Getting Started: Connecting to Your Code
Last updated: February 24, 2026
Exceeds helps you get insights on your code within minutes, without weeks of long installation and data ingestion that are often found with analytics platforms.
Step 1: Starting Your Pilot
Visit exceeds.ai and click "Start My Free Pilot"
Step 2: Sign-in
Review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and checking the box to accept
Login via your Google or Microsoft Entra work account. (An Exceeds account will be created for you if this is your first time signing-in)
Note: If you're not ready to connect with your work account, use your personal Google or Entra account and connect to your personal repo.
Step 3: Connect Your Code Repository
Choose your GitHub or GitLab Cloud repo (additional SCMs available at Enterprise level)
Authorize Exceeds to read and analyze your repo
Select repositories to analyze (1 repo on Free tier)
Pick a repo with active developers for meaningful team insights
Select a repository with recent commits (last 30 days)
In some cases, you'll need your repo Owner Admin's approval to connect with Exceeds.
An email request is sent to the GitHub admin automatically.
For GitLab, you'll need to ask the IT Admin to approve the request.
Step 4: Data Analysis
Once Exceeds is connected, we will begin to analyze the code and produce reports and insights within minutes (typically less than 15 minutes for an organization of 100 software engineers).
Exceeds will initially import data from all of the contributors in your selected repos, including AI bots (e.g., Cursorbot, Github Dependabot). You can merge or hide any contributor from the analysis and Exceeds platform.
Exceeds will email you an alert when your Dashboard and analytics are ready for review.
Step 5: Explore AI Insights
Take a look at the dashboards, leaderboards and explore
As your team makes more commits, Exceeds will continuously update with the latest findings.
Ask questions using the AI Assistant to dig deeper into any issue or data
